My unofficial start in woodworking came when I was in my early teens. I was helping build ramps and grind boxes with my skateboarding friends. Then in my early twenties, when I couldn’t afford an entertainment stand for my tv, movies, and video games, I would daydream about some that I could buy online. I came across this website that showed someone making their own that was custom fit for video game consoles, surround sound, and a similar sized tv to the one I had. I thought, “I could do that” and asked if anyone I knew had scrap wood that I could have. I got enough wood together and to build a simple entertainment stand. In hindsight, I am not sure how it stayed upright. I was so proud of this wobbly “thing” that I built; I was smitten. I bought some cheap tools, built a work table, and kept building things for myself. I couldn’t stop. I built boxes, tv stands, coffee tables, and bookshelves. The quality and design of the things I was building started to get better. Eight years later, I built my first dining table. It was the sweetheart table for my wedding and we still have it to this day. As I got more and more invested, I started sharing pictures on social media of my custom builds. People began asking me how much I would charge to build things for them, too. Around that time, I started a YouTube channel where I filmed how to build simple things that anyone, with only a few tools, could make for themselves. I was building my skill level as I was teaching others how to improve theirs. I am far from a “Master Woodworker,” but with 12 years of woodworking experience under my belt, I am proud of my skills and am confident that I can help you with your next custom wood furniture build. Even though I have slowed down posting videos, I proudly work full time making custom wood furniture and decor for people in the Fresno/Clovis area. There is nothing else I’d rather do.
